About Our Cooktop Installation

Most cooktop installations involve safely disconnecting the existing appliance, checking the electrical supply, fitting the new customer-supplied cooktop, connecting it correctly, and testing it before we leave.

We install common domestic electric and induction cooktops, depending on the existing wiring, circuit capacity, appliance rating, benchtop opening and manufacturer requirements.

We generally do not supply appliances, but we can install suitable customer-supplied cooktops and advise if the electrical side of the installation needs extra work.

Your Cooktop Installation Options

Replace An Existing Cooktop

If your old cooktop is faulty, outdated or being upgraded, we can replace it with a suitable customer-supplied cooktop where the new model suits the existing space and electrical setup.

Install A New Cooktop

If you are installing a cooktop in a new location, we can assess the electrical requirements and advise what is involved. New installations may require additional wiring, local isolation, circuit protection or switchboard work.

Changing From Gas To Induction

If you are replacing a gas cooktop with an electric or induction cooktop, the gas supply must be safely disconnected by a licensed plumber. We can help coordinate this where required while our team handles the electrical installation.

Customer-Supplied Cooktops

We generally install customer-supplied cooktops rather than supplying the appliance. This lets you choose the brand, size, style and features that suit your kitchen.

Before booking, it helps to have the make and model available so we can check the appliance rating, connection requirements and whether the new cooktop is likely to suit the existing space.

Cooktops We Install

Induction Cooktops

Electric Cooktops

Replacement electric cooktop installation where the existing circuit is suitable.

Our Process

We keep cooktop installations practical and clear. The exact scope depends on the existing cooktop, the new appliance, the benchtop opening, circuit capacity and available power.

Typical installation includes:

Check the existing cooktop and confirm the installation setup

Safely isolate power before disconnecting the existing unit

Remove or disconnect the old cooktop where suitable

Check the circuit and connection requirements for the new appliance

Fit the new customer-supplied cooktop to the existing location where compatible

Connect the cooktop electrically to the suitable supply

Test operation and confirm safe operation before we leave

Clean up the work area and leave the kitchen tidy

Gas disconnection, benchtop cutting, cabinetry changes, stone work, plastering, tiling and appliance supply are not included unless specifically arranged.

Important Things To Check

Does The New Cooktop Fit?

The new cooktop needs to suit the existing benchtop cut-out, cupboard space and mounting arrangement. If the new appliance is a different size, benchtop or cabinetry changes may be required by others.

Is The Existing Circuit Suitable?

Some replacement cooktops can use the existing supply, but larger or higher-rated induction cooktops may require wiring changes, circuit upgrades or switchboard work.

Are You Replacing Gas?

If your existing cooktop is gas, a licensed plumber will need to safely disconnect and cap the gas supply before the electric or induction cooktop is installed.

Do You Have The Manual?

The manufacturer’s installation manual helps confirm clearances, ventilation requirements, fixing requirements, electrical rating and connection details for the specific cooktop model.

Other Kitchen Appliance Installation

If you are upgrading your kitchen, we can also help with oven installation and rangehood installation. These pages are kept separate so the information matches the appliance you need installed.

For most kitchen appliance jobs, customers supply the appliance and we complete the electrical installation, connection, testing and safety checks where suitable.
